When I sold my business at Brands Hatch in the year 2000 it was so that I could “semi retire”, I have been trying to retire ever since but the work just kept flooding in.
I have now decided to cut down on the amount of work that I take on. In future I will only be rebuilding and/or renovating the following complete engines, 250/350 LC and 350 YPVS, RD500 and RG500.
I will only be tuning engines and building cranks if it is part of the complete engine rebuild. However I will still be carrying out rebores on all other cylinder barrels.
When sending or delivering an engine please ring first. Always drain the oil and water .
I usually strip the engine assembly shortly after receiving it, I measure and inspect everything and give a detailed estimate.
The work/estimate can consist of a straight-forward overhaul and rebuild or a overhaul/rebuild and full renovation.
LC 250/350 & YPVS 350
The engine and gearbox is stripped, cleaned and rebuilt using all new genuine gaskets, seals and lock washers. On the YPVS 350 the powervalves are cleaned and rebuilt with new seals and O rings. The gearbox and clutch is checked and repaired if necessary. The crank is overhauled with new main bearings and seals, new conrods and big-ends. The cylinder barrels are rebored, chamfered and honed and new piston kits fitted.
In addition to the overhaul if requested I will fully renovate the complete engine and make look like as new again. The crankcases are aqua-blasted. The cylinder head, cylinder barrels, thermostat housing etc and all side casings and covers are all bead-blasted and enamelled in satin black. All engine fittings and nuts and bolts are zinc-plated in bright or olive and the engine is rebuilt with stainless allen screws.
The engine is stripped and cleaned and rebuilt with all new genuine gaskets, seals and lock washers. The power-valves are stripped and cleaned and rebuilt with new O rings and seals. The cranks are rebuilt with all new main bearings and seals and new conrods and big-ends. The barrels are rebored, chamfered and honed and fitted with new piston kits. The gearboxes are a separate cassette gearbox and are stripped and checked at customers request.
In addition to the overhaul if requested I will fully renovate the engine unit and make it look as new. The cylinder heads and cylinder barrels and all side casings and covers are bead blasted and stove enamelled in satin black. All engine fittings and nuts and bolts are zinc-plated and the engine is rebuilt with stainless allen screws.
